Job summary

Perrysburg Exempted Village School District is seeking a School Van Driver to safely transport pupils and maintain orderly conduct during trips. You will perform pre-trip inspections, ensure vehicle cleanliness, and support routing and schedules under the transportation supervisor.

The role requires a valid driver’s license with van certification, a high school diploma, state clearances, and annual physicals. This is a part-time position with potential for involvement in school events and drills.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with school van certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet Ohio Department of Education requirements.
• Completion of van certification program.
• Annual physical examination as required by Ohio.
• BCI and FBI clearances.
• Professional tact and presentation with staff, students and community.
• Conscientious and responsible work ethic.
• Good health and attendance record.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm to aid students.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip safety checks for the school van as required.
• Ensure safe operating condition and cleanliness of the van.
• Maintain pupil control and report violations.
• Maintain routes, stops and schedules; propose improvements with supervisor approval.
• Report hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Follow procedures for reporting bus/van accidents and complete forms.
• Attend driver meetings and be available for emergencies.
• Notify supervisor of illness and arrange substitutes as needed.
• Promote positive public relations through appearance and conduct.
• Support school events and field trips as needed.
• Conduct a minimum of three emergency evacuation drills yearly.
• Attend annual in-service program.
• Prepare reports, route maps, schedules and pupil lists as required by state and district.
• Report malfunctions in SchoolDude.
