Job summary

National Heritage Academies seeks a licensed School Social Worker to provide counseling and behavioral support for students at Walker Charter Academy in Walker, MI. This part-time role involves both general and special education services, including IEP-related supports and crisis intervention.

Qualifications

• Qualified candidates must hold valid licensure for the state they are working in.
• Michigan:
• MSW degree and
• Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) issued by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and
• School Social Work Full Approval and/or Provisional/Professional School Social Worker Certificate issued in the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS)

Responsibilities

• Provide group and individual counseling sessions and classroom support to special education students as mandated per student IEPs and monitor IEP goals.
• Provide group and individual counseling sessions to general education students and monitor responses to interventions.
• Develop and monitor behavior intervention plans and support teachers accordingly.
• Complete psychosocial assessments to assist in determining services.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments and communicate results in parent-friendly language.
• Complete risk assessments on students referred for school social work services.
• Establish relationships with students and parents and participate in school planning.
• Identify community resources and make referrals to support interventions.
• Provide staff consultation on behavioral-emotional-environmental issues and collaborate on strategies.
• Provide crisis intervention services.
• Maintain state-required clinical records and submit documents for statistical reports.
