Job summary

Queen Creek Unified School District seeks a part-time Child Nutrition Assistant to support food preparation, serving, cashiering, and clean-up while practicing safe food handling. The role requires a Food Handler's Certificate, a background clearance, and the Arizona IVP Level One clearance.

You’ll work 25 hours weekly, with 180 days/9 months schedule, under the Child Nutrition Cafeteria Manager. Applicants should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, operate kitchen equipment, and handle money.

Qualifications

• Current Food Handler's Certificate.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience handling money desired.
• Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of HACCP and workplace safety requirements.
• Ability to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods.
• Ability to work with figures and to make arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to operate a computerized cash register.
• Ability to communicate with parents, staff, and students on the Child Nutrition program.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Knowledge of and adherence to all policies, regulations, and rules.
• Must pass a background clearance.
• Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and community.
• Execute all essential skills (i.e., cashiering, completing paperwork, preparing food, cleaning, etc.) within a reasonable time span.
• Accurately inventory and report production of food quantities, excess, etc.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment, including convection ovens, microwave oven, steam table, and hot holding carts.
• Assist with quantity food preparation.
• Assist with the daily cleaning of the kitchen and all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and to ensure sanitary conditions are met.
• Assist with stocking and replenishing of supplies.
• Set up and break down serving lines.
• Be willing to take over for the CN Assistant Senior in her/his absence.
• Perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.
