Job summary

Rochester Public Schools is seeking a Kitchen/School Food Service aide to assist in food preparation and line setup for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves handling allergens and various meat products, and ensuring meals are served in correct portions per production records.

The position requires adherence to HACCP protocols, safe food handling, and accurate cleaning and stocking. Strong organizational and communication skills, reliable attendance, and lifting 31-50 lbs are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have completed or be willing to enroll and complete the SNS required food safety training.
• Experience in a public school kitchen and/or background in related food service operations.
• Knowledge of government guidelines and procedures concerning sanitation and safety.
• Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Regular, on-time attendance is required.
• Must be able to lift 31-50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in food preparation as assigned and set up food serving lines.
• Handle a number of food allergens and a variety of meat products.
• Serve food in correct portions by following production records and recipes.
• Assist in clean up.
• Perform POS procedures as assigned.
• Adhere to HACCP plan.
• Wash, sanitize and store kitchen equipment per USDA and local guidelines.
• Support and promote the meal programs offered at the site.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
