Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is desirable
• Oral and written communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving
• Basic personal computer and keyboard skills desirable
• Customer service and public relations skills and professionalism
• Able to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, use time efficiently, demonstrate attention to detail
• Ability to work with students, district staff, and administration with diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, report unsafe conditions
• Basic reading/arithmetic/record keeping skills
• Two-hour food sanitation training course required
• Continuing education/training as required by Texas Dept. of Agriculture standards
• Use of automobile desirable

Responsibilities

• Assist in loading and unloading of food and supplies for transportation to the various cafeterias
• Work safely, quickly and efficiently in preparing, cooking, setting up foods on serving line
• Proper safe use of all kitchen equipment, knives and serving utensils
• Follow procedures for dishwashing and cleaning of equipment
• Wash, sanitize, and store kitchen equipment and carts; clean large equipment
• Follow HACCP SOPs and safety guidelines
• Establish and maintain high standards of sanitation and safety
• Operate computerized cash register and handle meals payments
• Work within multiple regulations and time schedules
• Maintain teamwork and professional demeanor
• Ensure regular attendance and proper communication channels
• Perform other duties as assigned
