Job summary

Norfolk County Agricultural High School is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a Registered Certified Substitute School Nurse on a part-time basis in Walpole, MA. The nurse will establish a comprehensive health program, triage ill or injured students, dispense medications per policy, and collaborate with counselors and staff on health issues.

The role requires an active RN license in Massachusetts, BSN preferred, and at least three years of supervised school or community health nursing

Qualifications

• Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Maintain continuing education units as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Registration of Nurses.
• BSN.
• At least three years of supervised experience in school or community health nursing.
• Knowledge of emergency first aid care.
• Maintain updated certification in CPR.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains a comprehensive school health program which assesses individual student health needs and addresses health service, education and environmental needs of the total school population.
• Assess, identify, treat and triage members of the school community who become ill or injured.
• Supervise the maintenance of facilities for first aid and sickness.
• Provide health counseling to students and staff, and stay current with new trends, practices and issues relative to health and safety of students and staff.
• Confer with parents, health instructors and other members of the Student Services Department regarding health issues at the Aggie.
• Dispense medication in accordance with school medication policy and follow state guidelines for psychotropic drugs.
• Observe and respond to problems of child neglect and abuse, drug use and abuse, nutrition and pregnancy.
• Refer students to counselors if mental health concerns.
