Job summary

Hastings Public Schools is seeking a licensed nurse (RN or LPN) to provide health services for students in the Hastings area. Work is limited to the school day with roughly 150 hours for the school year; a substitute option may add hours at a different rate.

Responsibilities include direct nursing care, medication administration, health record maintenance, and collaboration with school teams to meet student needs. Requires state licensure, First Aid/CPR, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed in Minnesota.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Proficient with email, MS Word and Google Docs.
• Strong communication with students, parents, staff.
• Prompt, regular attendance.
• Ability to work independently and follow through.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct skilled nursing services and emergency care to students.
• Administer medications per policy (e.g., glucose testing, medications).
• Maintain a daily health office log of visits and actions taken.
• Coordinate health care when the nurse is not in the building.
• Conduct vision and hearing screenings as assigned.
• Assist with IEP/IHP/504 planning under supervisor direction.
• Maintain health records and ensure confidentiality.
• Collaborate with educational teams and families to coordinate care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
