Job summary

LEAD Charter School in Newark, NJ is seeking a Part-Time Meal Service Aide to support the federal school food service program. You will assist with meal service, data entry, compliance, and customer service, contributing to nutritious meals for students.

The role requires a high school diploma (Associate's degree preferred) and a current ServSafe certification. You will work with a diverse staff and students, maintaining safety and quality standards in a school environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate's Degree preferred.
• Current ServSafe certification.
• Knowledge of nutrition, food preparation, health and safety regulations, and federal/state guidelines governing school food services programs.
• Ability to work with diverse, multicultural staff and students.
• Commitment to school model and fidelity.
• Multitask effectively and prioritize strategically.
• Experience in schools and/or urban communities recommended.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including required software/technology.

Responsibilities

• Manage the operation of the school's food services program in accordance with board policies and local/state/federal requirements.
• Determine eligibility for free, reduced, and paid applicants.
• Set up and serve meals to students.
• Maintain a clean work environment and serving area.
• Attend workshops and required training for the Child Nutrition Program.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Stay informed about federal regulations related to school meal programs and ensure compliance.
• Support state reporting and auditing processes for student enrollment.
• Prepare and submit required reports, documentation, and claims accurately and on time.
• Accurately input data into systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Collect, track, and organize food service data for daily/weekly/monthly reports to stakeholders.
• Maintain confidentiality and data security.
• Provide a welcoming environment for students, parents, and visitors.
• Address inquiries and requests promptly and professionally.
• Assist with miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned by leadership.
