Job summary

Compass Group USA’s Chartwells K-12 division is hiring immediately for a part-time Chef at Oakland Schools in Waterford, MI. The shift runs from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with days that may vary and online applications accepted only.

You will supervise kitchen staff, prepare meals to standardized recipes, ensure sanitation and portion control, manage inventory, and help develop menus. Prior kitchen experience is preferred, and this role offers benefits to associates.

Qualifications

• Prior kitchen experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs, coordinates and evaluates assigned kitchen, food production and food-service associates.
• Supervises hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, reviews and disciplinary actions.
• Efficiently prepares high-quality food items according to recipes to meet production and service schedules.
• Ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control and serving temperatures.
• Tracks food use, waste and consumption to requisition or purchase products.
• Receives and inspects product and supplies for quality and quantity to ensure inventory.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils and keeps area clean.
• Helps select and develop recipes and menus.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
