Job summary

The City of Kettering Engineering Department is seeking to fill Regular Part-time Crossing Guard positions to work 10-12 hours per week during the school year. These roles focus on safe crossing at school crosswalks and supervising student safety patrols.

Responsibilities include instructing in safety, reporting hazards, and representing the city at events, with pay ranging $15.72 to $21.60 per hour and benefits such as sick leave, vacation, and holiday pay.

Qualifications

• High School education required; dependable transportation to work locations.
• Ability to communicate safety laws clearly to students and residents.
• Good physical condition and prompt, regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and efficient crossing of streets for schoolchildren at crosswalks.
• Supervise school safety patrols and elementary students during travel to/from school.
• Assist in safety presentations and public outreach events.
• Report damaged traffic control devices, sidewalks and related structures.
• Instruct in pedestrian and bicycle safety; cooperate with school staff and PTA.
• Train and supervise school safety patrols and evaluate performance.
• Be a visible representative of the City of Kettering.
