School District 197's Child Nutrition Office is inviting applications for a Kitchen Assistant/Cashier position at Friendly Hills Middle School. The role supports meal service, POS operations, and daily food preparation during the 10:15am–2:00pm shift.

The position offers hourly pay between $19.24 and $22.03, with duties ranging from forecasting meal needs to ensuring USDA compliance and maintaining a clean kitchen.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work as a team member and perform duties to keep the department running smoothly, may work at other locations within the District.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Forecast daily meal needs and request products from the person in charge.
• Assist with preparing and serving meals for students, staff and special functions.
• Operate the Point of Sale System and handle money and deposits.
• Ensure that each reimbursable meal sold meets USDA requirements.
• Perform a variety of kitchen cleaning duties.
• Assist with setting up serving line and serve meals according to meal patterns.
• Project a positive, professional image of themselves, their school and the Child Nutrition Dept. to all customers, staff and parents.
