Job summary

Haverhill Public Schools is seeking a Cafeteria Helper at Nettle Middle School in Haverhill, MA. This civil service position offers 3.75 hours per day (0.47 FTE) with duties spanning food preparation, serving, cleaning, receiving deliveries, and basic inventory tasks under supervision of the Lead and Food Service Director.

The role requires a high school diploma, and experience in food service is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma.
• Demonstrated Aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Experience in food service industry preferred.
• Position is an assistant to the Lead; may assume responsibilities when Lead is unavailable.
• Such alternatives to qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Performs tasks required for food preparation and service and ensures sanitary operation of the food service facility.
• Prepares vegetables and other foods for cooking.
• Makes soups, simple hot foods, sandwich fillings, salad dressing, and simple desserts.
• Prepares sandwiches and salads.
• Operates mixers, peelers, slicers, dishwashers, and toasters.
• Cleans tables and kitchen equipment.
• Receives and checks deliveries and stores foods properly.
• Keeps storeroom in good order.
• Assists in inventories and keeps simple records.
