Job summary

Ashland School District 5 is seeking a Food Service Worker to join the district's cafeteria team. The position is 0.6875 FTE (5.5 hours per day) and involves preparing nutritious meals for students and staff while keeping a clean kitchen and complying with health department regulations.

Under supervision, you will assist in meal preparation, set up serving lines, monitor temperatures, and help with deposits and daily reports.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; one year of food service experience preferred.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with diverse groups of people including students, staff and parents.
• Language Skills: Clear verbal and written English communication.
• Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic for handling money and reporting.
• Other Skills: Ability to use standard computer programs (email, databases, spreadsheets) and maintain sanitation and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of school meals and food item preparation.
• Set up serving lines and serve meals to students and staff.
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain sanitary kitchen and dining areas.
