Job summary

Lake Orion Community Schools is seeking a Cafe Associate at Lake Orion High School in Michigan for a part-time shift from 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. You will assist in food prep, serve meals, monitor temperatures, follow HACCP and sanitation procedures, maintain records, and communicate with staff and students.

Requires high school diploma and reliable attendance; Serv Safe within 90 days; wage is $15.84 per hour. This position is on-site at the school.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Must complete Serv Safe Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Excellent attendance record is essential.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of kitchen sanitation procedures in school settings.
• Experience with quantity food production preferred.
• Prefer experience operating a POS system.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must sign Confidentiality Agreement and Technology Agreement.
• Must be available to perform duties with professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Submit orders for food, beverages and supplies promptly to the kitchen manager.
• Inventory food and supplies to determine product usage.
• Heat and prepare side dishes; test food quality before serving.
• Serve proper portions according to USDA guidelines for meals.
• Record temperatures for freezers, coolers, and hot/cold foods.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and ensure safety standards.
• Maintain highest safety and sanitation standards in kitchen and serving areas.
• Communicate changes to students, parents and staff; promote a positive environment.
• Train food service staff on tasks as needed.
• Complete daily production records and logs; secure deposits when required.
• Close and secure the kitchen at end of day; attend professional development as needed.
