Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a part-time Nutrition Services Cafeteria Assistant to support the district's school meal program, working 4.5 hours per day for 9 months. Under the Kitchen Manager, you will assist with food prep, meal service, HACCP compliance, and general kitchen duties.

Required are a Washington State Food Workers Card and a high school diploma, plus at least 12 months cooking experience in foodservice or experience as a VPS kitchen substitute.

Qualifications

• Possess a current Washington State Food Workers Card.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience required: VPS kitchen substitute or 12+ months cooking in foodservice within last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Treat coworkers, supervisors, students and parents with dignity and respect.
• Serve as a positive role model for students and model expected behaviors.
• Perform food preparation tasks and assist cooks or managers.
• Serve food and monitor portions per USDA/ HACCP requirements.
• Perform clean-up and sanitize work areas and equipment.
• Operate computer to respond to emails and access production records.
• May substitute for cook or manager when needed.
• May work in multiple buildings or satellite kitchens.
• Follow USDA Professional Standards training annually.
