Job summary

Student Transportation of America (STA) is seeking a part-time Bus Monitor to help ensure student safety on routes Monday through Friday. The role focuses on passenger monitoring, assisting students boarding and alighting, and maintaining bus cleanliness.

Pay is $11.50 per hour. The position involves operating wheelchair lifts and tie-down straps, completing training, and undergoing background checks. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience working with children or students.
• Complete all training requirements.
• Pre-employment background checks apply.

Responsibilities

• Monitor all passengers to ensure safety is always maintained on the bus.
• Assist students in entering and exiting the bus.
• Perform safety checks on the bus to ensure the safety of all students.
• Know the routes and remain alert to monitor the welfare of passengers on route.
• Check the school bus for sleeping children.
• Assist driver to safely back the vehicle when necessary.
• Conduct emergency evacuation from the bus, including use of emergency exits.
• Open/close service doors and move up and down steps multiple times daily.
• Communicate behavior problems and conditions of various bus stops with the driver.
• Liaise with parents as needed.
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness of assigned bus.
• Occasionally attend field trips and special events to ensure passenger safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
