Job summary

First Student, Inc. in Chester, CT is hiring part-time school bus drivers to start mornings and afternoons, with field trips possible.

We offer a $5,000 sign-on for experienced, fully licensed drivers and $3,000 for new/non-CDL drivers, with CDL training provided. Hourly rate is $32.40, plus training pay and a comprehensive benefits package, including insurance, a 401(k) match, and a flexible split-shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Must hold School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements and No Air Brake restrictions.
• Have held a valid driver's license for at least 3 years.
• Able to work part-time with split AM/PM routes, weekdays only.

Responsibilities

• Safely transporting students to and from school and activities
• Supervising boarding and unloading at stops and assisting students as needed
• Maintaining order on the bus to prevent distractions
• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Reporting mechanical issues promptly and keeping the bus clean and sanitary
• Obeying all traffic laws and company safety standards
• Communicating with parents, school staff, and dispatch about student behavior or delays
• Demonstrating leadership and customer service skills
