Job summary

First Student is hiring a Part Time School Bus Driver in Springfield, Illinois. You will start mornings with student pickup and transport them home after school, with potential hours for field trips and events.

No experience is necessary; we provide expert training to help you become a safe and professional driver. You will earn an hourly rate of $25.00 and training rate of $15.00, with opportunities for CLP/CDL training and bonuses.

Qualifications

• Requires English proficiency for all safety communications and school interactions.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must have a valid driver's license for at least 3 years.
• Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and activities.
• Supervise boarding and unloading at stops; assist students with seatbelts and mobility aids.
• Maintain order on the bus to prevent distractions.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (brakes, lights, tires, emergency exits).
• Report mechanical issues promptly and keep the bus clean and sanitary.
• Obey all traffic laws and company safety standards.
• Communicate with parents, school staff, and dispatch about student behavior or delays.
• Demonstrate leadership and customer service skills.
