Norfolk Public School District is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to provide direct and indirect services to students with various disabilities across one or more schools in Norfolk, VA.

The role requires a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology and a Virginia license. You will participate in child find activities, develop IEPs, and collaborate with teachers and parents while maintaining thorough records and progress reports.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in speech/language pathology from an accredited institution.
• Tuberculin skin test certifying no contagious tuberculosis.
• Current license in speech pathology issued by the Virginia Board of Health Professions for Audiology and Speech Pathology.
• Knowledge of remediation of speech/language disorders and IEP processes.
• Knowledge of IDEA and Virginia state regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect speech and language services to students with various disabilities at one or more schools.
• Completes appropriate child find activities and evaluations, including 60 day screenings and assessments for suspected speech/language deficits.
• Develops and implements IEPs for students with speech/language impairments.
• Interprets and reports assessment results within designated timelines.
• Develops lessons for individuals, groups in special and general classrooms.
• Implements techniques to remediate speech difficulties and language development.
• Maintains clear, concise records of student progress.
• Serves as a resource to the Special Education Committee.
• Supervises students and collaborates with other professionals.

Education

Master’s degree in speech/language pathology

Virginia Board of Health Professions license for Audiology and Speech Pathology

Ability to work effectively with students, parents, school staff, and administrative personnel
