Job description

The Sales Teammate position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, Sales Teammates perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by Store Management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities).

Sales Generation and Guest Service

  • Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, and provide legendary service to each Guest.
  • Answer questions regarding the store and merchandise.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on Guest needs.
  • Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education, sharing that knowledge with the team.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices.
  • Perform personal sales and look for opportunities to impact Teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Achieve personal sales goals set by Store Management.
  • Provide legendary service in all store areas: front, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register.
  • Assist Guests with fitting merchandise, check out, and bagging purchases.
  • Prepare merchandise for alterations.
  • Handle exchanges and returns professionally, turning them into showmanship opportunities.
  • Use the SPG daily to meet goals.
  • Meet or exceed performance standards in all business areas, including guest loyalty programs.
  • Place special orders or contact other stores for merchandise.
  • Build and maintain good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business.
  • Maintain knowledge of Buckle’s customer service standards.
  • Perform leadership actions and uphold high standards consistently.

Teammate Recruiting, Training, and Development

  • Recognize recruiting opportunities using various tools.
  • Create relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred programs.
  • Maintain a professional attitude to foster a positive floor culture.
  • Present merchandise effectively to maximize sales.
  • Stay current on product offerings and provide feedback for improvements.
  • Ensure the sales floor is well-stocked and displays are updated.

Operations

  • Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Operate cash registers, handle money, and perform cash balancing and deposits.
  • Recognize and prevent security risks and thefts, following Loss Prevention guidelines.
  • Follow all policies regarding payments, exchanges, and loss prevention.
  • Perform merchandising tasks and maintain a clean, organized store.
  • Provide feedback on merchandise handling and communicate concerns to management.
  • Understand and apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and policies.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment while performing job duties with high customer service standards.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk/hear. Occasionally sit. Must be able to lift and maneuver 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work environment is typically moderate noise in a retail setting.
