Summary

The Sales Teammate position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: “To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, Sales Teammates perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by Store Management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Generation and Guest Service
  • Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, providing legendary service to each Guest.
  • Answer questions regarding the store and merchandise.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on Guest needs and desires.
  • Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education, sharing this knowledge with the team.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices.
  • Consistently perform personal sales and look for opportunities to impact team presentations using the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Achieve personal sales goals including sales-per-hour, average sales, and total net sales set by Store Management.
  • Provide legendary service throughout the store, including Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.
  • Assist Guests with fitting merchandise, checkout, and bagging purchases.
  • Prepare merchandise for alterations and handle exchanges and returns effectively, turning these into showmanship opportunities.
  • Use the SPG daily to meet or exceed goals.
  • Meet or surpass performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty programs.
  • Place special orders or contact other stores to find desired merchandise.
  • Build and maintain good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business.
  • Develop knowledge of Buckle’s customer service standards to meet Guest needs.
  • Perform leadership actions and uphold high standards consistently, regardless of managerial presence.
Teammate Recruiting, Training, and Development
  • Recognize recruiting opportunities using various methods such as Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and Teammate Recommend.
  • Create relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred programs.
  • Maintain a professional, respectful attitude to foster a positive store culture.
  • Present merchandise to maximize sales and merchandise turnover.
  • Stay current on product range and provide feedback on product improvements and new ideas.
  • Ensure the sales floor is well-sized and stocked with new freight appropriately displayed.
Operations
  • Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Open and close registers, handle transactions, and balance cash drawers.
  • Recognize security risks and theft, following all Loss Prevention guidelines.
  • Understand POS procedures and policies regarding payments, exchanges, and loss prevention.
  • Handle merchandising tasks such as freight handling, re-merchandising, display setup, markdowns, and transfers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store environment.
  • Provide feedback on merchandise handling and report policy violations or concerns promptly.
  • Adhere to Buckle’s Code of Ethics, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform job duties with high customer service standards and contribute positively to the team.
  • Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

No prior experience or training is required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands include standing, walking, using hands, reaching, climbing, balancing, jumping, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing. Occasionally, sitting is required. Must be able to lift and maneuver 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to focus.
