Job summary

BluePearl Frederick Urgent Care is hiring a part-time Registered Veterinary Technician to support triage, vital signs monitoring, anesthesia, radiography, and compassionate patient care in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

The ideal candidate holds a Maryland RVT license with 1–2 years of veterinary experience, proficiency in phlebotomy, IV catheters, and A/V monitoring, and a strong client communication mindset. Weekend and evening availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active Maryland RVT license required
• 1–2 years of veterinary medicine experience
• Computer savvy (paperless operation)
• Interest or certification in low-stress handling
• Venipuncture, IV catheter placement
• Medication and fluid calculation proficiency
• Interest in helping clients and their pets

Responsibilities

• Manage post-operative care for stable orthopedic cases.
• Triage urgent care cases as they arrive, obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Sedate/induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
