Job summary

The Overlook Boulder + Fitness is seeking a Part Time Route Setter in Boulder, CO to design and adjust boulder problems for a range of ability levels. You will forerun up to V8, strip and wash holds, manage the setting closet, and help keep walls and volumes in top condition.

You’ll engage with members and communicate with management on safety and quality. Core hours are 16–25 per week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with occasional extra days for competitions and events.

Qualifications

• 2+ years setting experience in a commercial climbing gym preferred.
• Ability to forerun up to V8.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Friendly, professional and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Setting plus forerunning boulders for a variety of skill levels.
• Maintaining a safe and efficient work environment (including hardware and hold management).
• Stripping, hold washing and sorting holds.
• Supporting with setting closet cleaning and organization.
• Assisting with wall/volume maintenance as needed.
• Communicating with management regarding safety, hold needs and setting quality.
• Engaging with members to ensure boulders meet community needs.

• Setting + forerunning boulders for a variety of skill levels


• Maintaining a safe and efficient work environment (including hardware and hold management)


• Stripping, hold washing + maintaining and sorting holds


• Supporting with setting closet cleaning and organization


• Assisting with wall/volume maintenance on an as needed basis


• Communicating with management team regarding safety, hold needs + setting quality


• Engaging with members to ensure boulders are meeting the needs of the community

Principal Responsibilities Include (but Aren't Limited To)

• Setting + forerunning boulders for a variety of skill levels


• Maintaining a safe and efficient work environment (including hardware and hold management)

Availability Requirements

• 16-25 hours per week, core setting days being Tuesday and Wednesday


• Optional hold washing and sorting shifts available based on availability


• Occasional additional days for competitions and special events

Qualifications
