Overview

The Teen Academy program is a summer work and internship initiative that began in 2016 at the IHG Army Hotel in Joint Force Base San Antonio. It expanded in 2017 across other IHG Army Hotels, fostering skill development among teens in a hotel environment.

Your Role

• Provide teens with skills development and real hotel work experience.
• Help develop a strong work ethic and offer a rewarding summer experience.
• Promote family values and IHG’s Winning Ways, emphasizing hospitality and a healthy lifestyle.

Program Details

• Duration: 10 weeks, during summer months, with possible variation based on school schedules.
• Hours: Core hours from 0800 to 1600; teens may work up to 40 hours/week, no overtime or more than 8 hours/day, 5 days/week.

Eligibility & Requirements

• Age: 14 to 16, compliant with federal and state laws.
• Willing to learn various roles: Houseperson, Housekeeping, Laundry, Breakfast Attendant.
• Must have transportation and access to the post.
• Family member must be employed at the hotel; no active corrective actions for sponsoring employee.
• Interview process includes GM, HM, OM, and HR Manager.
• Required documents: age/work permits, signed agreements, and liability releases from teen and guardian if applicable.
