Job summary

Goodwill of Central Iowa is seeking Retail Store Associates to accept, sort, and merchandise donated goods, cashier, and deliver outstanding customer service aligned with our values of love, kindness, and respect. The role supports Des Moines Metro stores with flexible shifts and weekend coverage.

Starting wage is $15.00/hour in Des Moines, with an additional $1.00/hour on Saturday and Sunday. Part-time associates are eligible for a monthly bonus and annual merit increases, plus some benefits.

Qualifications

• Excellent service skills for daily customer interactions.
• Availability to work days, evenings, and weekends.
• Ability to carry, lift, push or pull 40 pounds; tolerate temperature variations.
• Be at least 16 years old.
• Effective communication and basic math skills.
• Must pass criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Greet, assist, and engage with customers in a helpful and courteous manner.
• Receive donations from the public.
• Sort donations and merchandise; keep items organized and accessible.
• Rotate items on the sales floor with supervisors; ensure quality standards.
• Practice safe cash handling and operate the cash register, balancing as scheduled.
• Carry out cleaning tasks such as sweeping and mopping.
• Use a dolly, cart, pallet jack, and possibly forklift.
• Meet daily production goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
