Job summary

Smart & Final in Delano is hiring a Part-time Retail Associate to help customers, stock shelves, and keep the store clean and organized. You will assist shoppers with product information, tag pricing, and promotional displays while maintaining strong service standards.

The role requires English literacy, the ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally, and a willingness to engage with the community. Starting at $16.90 per hour, on-site work in Delano, CA.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise using proper equipment (excluding power/heavy equipment).
• Ensure proper pricing on merchandise, check product date codes to validate proper rotation, and stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays, and refrigerated/frozen cases.
• Prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays.
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of the store and parking lot as directed by store management.
• Offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and courteous assistance to customers by providing them with current store and product information.
• When requested, load customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties, including recording lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools.

Requirements

• Read and write English, interact with the general public and co‑workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic PC/Outlook skills.
• Retail Management Certificate.
