Job summary

Smart & Final is hiring a Part-time Retail Associate for the Bell, CA location. You will stock, assist customers, set up displays and keep the store clean while delivering friendly service.

Starting pay is $18.50 per hour with benefits like 401(k) and education support; weekend shifts may be required; prior retail experience helpful but not required.

Qualifications

• Read and write English, interact with the general public and co‑workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags and memos.
• Write simple correspondence and present information clearly.
• Lift up to 60 pounds occasionally as part of stocking and merchandising duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise using proper equipment.
• Assure proper pricing, rotate products, stock shelves and displays.
• Prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays and maintain sanitation standards.
• Assist customers with current store information and load purchases to vehicles when needed.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties, including recording lost/damaged goods.

Qualifications

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Position Overview

The Part‑time Retail Associate performs management‑assigned duties, which may include but may not be limited to stocking and maintaining a store section, carry‑out services and store cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section as assigned and stock merchandise using proper equipment (excluding power/heavy equipment).
• Assure proper pricing on merchandise, check product date codes to validate proper rotation, stock shelves, end displays, floor stacks, displays and refrigerated/frozen cases.
• Prepare perishable products for sale as needed.
• Set up advertising/promotional displays.
• Clean and maintain sanitation standards in all interior and exterior areas of store and parking lot as directed by store management.
• Offer friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous assistance to customers by providing them with current store and product information.
• When requested, load customer purchases by assisting customers to their vehicles.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties, including recording lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate tools.
