Job Description and Requirements:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Comparative Medicine in Hershey, PA, seeks a part-time, project-oriented technologist to assist veterinary and research staff with animal handling, treatments, and data collection for various research projects. Responsibilities include administering medications, providing treatments under veterinary direction, recording observations and data, using sterile techniques, recognizing equipment issues, restraining animals, maintaining detailed records, and following verbal and written instructions from investigators and supervisors. Experience working with larger animals such as swine, sheep, and calves is required. Work hours are intermittent and may include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications: High school diploma and at least 2 years of college-level coursework.

The following clearances must be successfully completed:

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
