Job summary

The University of Iowa's Department of Microbiology and Immunology seeks a part-time Research Support Coordinator to assist with pre- and post-award activities, grant submissions, and reporting. The role works closely with the Research Support Manager to ensure high-quality proposals and efficient post-award processes.

Responsibilities include coordinating information between staff and sponsors, preparing budgets, RPPRs in NIH eRA Commons, and training faculty on financial reports and tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• 1–3 years of grant-related experience.
• Familiarity with budgets and budget preparation in an administrative role.
• Experience with NIH-like grant processes and reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate information between staff, PIs, Sponsoring Agencies, the Division of Sponsored Programs and Grant Accounting.
• Work with Research Manager to evaluate funding opportunities, prepare and review proposals to ensure completeness; route proposals.
• Prepare and maintain budget projections, reconcile accounts and prepare financial reports.
• Compile information for new funding award announcements and work with Microbiology Administrative staff to develop social media communications.
• Work with the Research Manager to prepare RPPRs in the NIH eRA Commons system.
• Prepare subaward documents; monitor subaward invoices.
