JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Research Assistant - Investigating Maternal B12 Deficiency and Metabolic Outcomes in Mice

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented recent graduate to assist with a research project investigating the intergenerational effects of maternal B12 deficiency on insulin resistance (IR) and obesity in offspring. The role involves conducting feeding trials and evaluating metabolic and inflammatory parameters in C57BL/6 female mice and their pups. This is a great opportunity to apply your academic knowledge and laboratory skills to an impactful research study in the fields of nutrition, metabolism, and animal studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing feeding trials with C57BL/6 mice

  • Monitor and record metabolic parameters in both mothers and offspring

  • Perform qRT-PCR to evaluate hepatic gene expression related to insulin signaling, glucose, and lipid metabolism

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques such as PCR, and animal handling

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team

  • Good communication and documentation skills for data collection and reporting
