Summary

Provides group swim lessons for ages six months to adult. Able to give instruction and motivation for students, providing water safety and water awareness information and skills. Knowledge of and ability to teach strokes and stroke development.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain and organize classes of various sizes.
2. Keep eyes on your class at all times while instructing.
3. Enforce pool rules for all participants.
4. Know strokes and water skills with the ability to teach different levels.
5. Handle disciplinary situations courteously and fairly.
6. Maintain a positive attitude towards all responsibilities.
7. Respond promptly to training and emergency plans.
8. Find qualified substitutes when needed.
9. Notify management of broken or unsafe equipment.
10. Work flexible hours.
11. Keep certifications (PR/CPR, AED, O2, First Aid) up to date.
12. Be active in other Parks and Recreation responsibilities to support the mission.

Qualifications

1. Current American Red Cross PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid Certification; training provided if needed.
2. Recommended: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
3. Additional pay may be offered based on experience.
