Job summary

Springbrook in New York seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist with leisure and recreational activities for residential school students. You will collaborate with a Recreation Therapist to implement meaningful, fun and educational activities and field trips, and provide direct care as scheduled.

Applicants must have a High School Diploma and be able to lift 50 lbs, with preference for experience with developmental disabilities and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50lbs.
• Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
• Be able to perform all physical interventions.

Responsibilities

• Implement recreational opportunities for students under the direction of Recreation Therapist.
• Provide evidence of activities and feedback to parents and/or Springbrook (photos, art samples, etc.).
• Provide programmatic and staffing support to students in various settings; implement service plans (IPOP, Mealtime plan, Behavior plan).
• Earn/maintain specialty trainings to safely support equal access to leisure opportunities (e.g., Epi-Pen, VNS, SCIP-R).
• Set up special activities aligned with school themes, holidays, events.
• Serve as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) when necessary.
• All other duties as assigned.

Also provide direct care services as scheduled. Must work flexible hours, drive agency vehicles, and implement service plans.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement recreational opportunities for students under direction of Recreation Therapist.

• Provide evidence of activities and feedback to parents and/or Springbrook such as photos, art samples, etc.

• Provide programmatic and staffing support to students in a variety of settings. Implement service plans including but not limited to IPOP, Mealtime plan, Behavior plan.

• Earn/Maintain specialty trainings at Springbrook to safely support student equal access to leisure opportunities (such as Epi-Pen, VNS, SCIP-R, etc.)

• Set up special activities in accordance with school themes, holidays, events.

• Serve as a DSP when necessary.

• All other duties assigned.
