Job summary

Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is seeking a part-time Recreation Specialist to lead and supervise diverse recreation programs in Simi Valley and Oak Park. The role involves guiding instructional classes, social events, excursions and leisure activities for participants with varying needs, under supervision of the Recreation Supervisor II or Coordinator.

Responsibilities include program planning, safety oversight, and collaboration with staff to adapt activities for youth and adults.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED equivalent and 18 years of age.
• One or more years of relevant experience with planning and leading social/recreational activities for individuals with disabilities or preschool-age children.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors; maintain equipment and facilities; communicate effectively; build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise instructional classes, social events, excursions, sports and leisure activities.
• Oversee safety and care of participants during program activities.
• Develop and implement activities and prepare program outlines; communicate progress to supervisor.
