Job description

Join the City of Grand Prairie's Fine Arts Division as a part-time Rec Aide

Play a key role in creating vibrant, welcoming spaces for the community by maintaining interior facilities, overseeing operations, developing recreational programs, and maintaining communication for the facility. Additional duties include handling cash, closing the cash register, and interacting with City employees and citizens. Apply today with the City of Grand Prairie!

This description outlines key responsibilities but does not encompass all duties performed by incumbents.

This position may require lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally.

  1. Facility Maintenance: Remove trash, sweep and mop floors, organize offices and equipment, report repairs, clean storage areas, restrooms, and game rooms.
  2. Facility Operations: Supervise hallway, distribute equipment, assist customers, promote programs, keep records, update class records, and manage paperwork such as disclaimers, receipts, logs, etc.
  3. Communication: Address customer questions, suggestions, and complaints; assist with computerized publications; answer phones; make reservations; greet customers; report feedback; and interact with the public and school officials.
  4. Cash Handling: Accept payments, issue receipts, record transactions, ensure proper charges, count cash, manage petty cash, and secure funds.
  5. Program Development: Oversee and assist with recreational programs, schedule classes, coordinate rentals, teach classes, and engage with children and the public.
  6. Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  7. Attendance: Maintain regular and punctual attendance is essential.

Qualifications may include any combination of experience and training that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, such as:

  • Education: Ability to read and understand instructions; knowledge level below high school or equivalent.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Licenses: Valid Driver's License required.
