Job summary

communitasinc is seeking a Recreation Assistant in Wakefield, MA for part-time hours (2-10 hours/week). The role supports program leads across recreation activities and requires flexibility for late afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities include helping run programs, supervising participants, coordinating with local community resources, and providing direct support to individuals and caretakers. A valid driver’s license and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities or experience in recreation leadership preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record.
• Must pass company background and reference checks.
• Passion and dedication to supporting our people.

Responsibilities

• Assist in running a variety of recreation programs including social outings, arts & crafts, sports, fitness, dance, swimming, bowling, cooking, etc.
• Supervise participants, providing 1:1 ratio if needed and personal care when required.
• Coordinate with community resources such as YMCA clubs, school systems, churches, and local departments for program support.
• Provide direct support and contact with individuals and caretakers.
• Lead in emergencies, including calling for help and arranging transportation as needed.
• Support individuals in achieving their personal goals through activities and engagement.
