Job summary

Cook Memorial Public Library District in Lake County is seeking a friendly Readers' Services specialist to join our team. You will staff adult services desks, provide reference and technology assistance, and contribute to Readers' advisory services and displays.

Your duties include selecting part of the Adult Fiction collection, planning book-related programs, leading a monthly book club, and helping patrons with digital resources like Libby, Hoopla, CloudLibrary, and Kanopy.

Qualifications

Customer service experience; library service desk experience preferred.
Avid reader, viewer, and listener with broad genre experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong technology aptitude and familiarity with digital devices and platforms such as Libby, Hoopla, CloudLibrary and Kanopy.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Responsibilities

Staff adult services desk at two Library locations, providing reference services and technology assistance.
Provide adult readers' and media advisory service, in-person and online.
Select and manage a portion of the Adult Fiction collection.
Plan and organize book-related programming.
Lead one monthly adult book club.
Assist patrons with electronic resources and library tools (website, catalogs, downloadable materials).
