Job summary

Pima County's Parks & Recreation department seeks two part-time Rangemaster team members to work at our six shooting ranges. The roles emphasize safety and excellent customer service while handling firearms and archery equipment.

Essential duties include supervising range operations, enforcing safety rules, reporting incidents, handling cash, and teaching firearm/archery safety. A valid driver license is required; NRA RSO certification is preferred or required within a year of hire.

Qualifications

• One year (2,080 hours) of experience handling rifles/handguns/archery equipment or coordinating shooting/archery events and safety instruction or range supervision.
• Current NRA Range Safety Officer certification is preferred and may be required within one year of hire.
• Education and experience must be documented in the Education and Work Experience sections of the application.

Responsibilities

• Manages, supervises and coordinates daily operation of the range.
• Supervises and enforces all range firearms safety rules and regulations at the range.
• Reports violations, accidents or incidents related to safety infractions and public safety to management.
• Makes recommendations for changes to safety procedures and future operational improvements.
• Handles firearms and/or archery equipment safely in compliance with regulations.
• Conducts classes in use and safety precautions of firearms and/or archery equipment.
• Collects monies for range items and ensures cash handling and records comply with policies.
• Maintains records of expenditures and income and prepares reports.
• Provides First Aid, CPR and AED if certified.
• Trains and supervises volunteers in line safety, cash handling, customer service and maintenance duties.
• Ensures facility and equipment are clean, orderly and well maintained.
• Ensures range equipment and supplies are secured and opening/closing procedures are followed.
