Job summary

J.V. Manufacturing in Tennessee is seeking a part-time Quality Assurance Inspector to ensure precision parts meet customer specifications and J.V. Manufacturing's quality standards.

You will inspect using blueprints, verify dimensions and print requirements, and document NCRs, while collaborating with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, and other Quality team members to resolve quality concerns. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology and systems.
  • Ability to understand and apply technical information.
  • Dependability and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Direct Quality Assurance experience is not required.
  • If you have the right mechanical aptitude, manufacturing knowledge, and willingness to learn, we encourage you to apply.
  • Manufacturing or machining experience is a plus.
  • Experience reading blueprints or engineered drawings is beneficial.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment is valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect manufactured parts, tools, and components using blueprints, engineered drawings, sketches, and specifications.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, clearances, and other print requirements.
  • Use precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, drop micrometers, gauge blocks/pins, indicators, comparators, and other inspection tools.
  • Determine the best inspection method and proper measuring equipment for each part.
  • Use or learn equipment such as CMMs, vision systems, and contour tracers.
  • Identify and document parts that do not meet specifications through NCRs.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, and other Quality team members to resolve questions or quality concerns.
  • Complete inspection documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Help keep production moving without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
  • Participate in training, cross-training, and continuous improvement efforts.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Quality Assurance Inspector, you'll help make sure the precision parts, tools, and components we manufacture meet customer specifications and JV Manufacturing's quality standards.

Your day may include:

  • Inspecting manufactured parts, tools, and components using blueprints, engineered drawings, sketches, and specifications.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Manufacturing or machining experience.

  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Quality inspection or Quality Assurance experience.
  • Tool & die experience or experience in a related skilled trade.
  • Education or training in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field.

The Schedule:

This is a part-time position with hours established based on business needs and candidate availability. Additional hours may occasionally be available or required depending on production needs.
