Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant I for the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry unit (1JPW). This 50% time role supports nursing staff in the John Pappajohn Pavilion, a 15-bed inpatient unit for ages 3-17 with diverse psychiatric needs.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient care under RN supervision, handling emergencies, and maintaining accuracy amid shifting priorities while interacting professionally with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification required.
• Customer service experience and strong written communication preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support nursing staff in patient care under RN supervision.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and manage multiple tasks.
• Maintain attention to detail during busy shifts and changing conditions.
• Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
