Production Cook

Department: Food Services

FLSA Status: Temporary/Contract (Approx 2 months)

Work Schedule: Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat / 1:30pm-6:30pm (20 hours per week)

Reports to: Kitchen Supervisor

Pay Range: $20.06-$27.93 per hour (DOQ/DOE)

About the Company:

The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations is a residential treatment facility for adolescents (13-17 y/o) and outpatient clinical care. The Healing Lodge treatment program integrates traditional, spiritual, and cultural values with chemical dependency and mental health counseling to create a holistic approach toward healing. Residents include both Native and non-Native youth from all areas of the country.

About the Position:

Under the supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor, you will perform the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare meals and snacks according to the planned menu.
  2. Clean, sanitize, and organize work areas, equipment, utensils, and the service station.
  3. Serve residents, staff, and guests in a professional, efficient, and friendly manner.
  4. Prep dining areas and kitchen for the next shift by cleaning and restocking.
  5. Clean machines and appliances used in the kitchen.
  6. Maintain inventory and stock levels of food items and paper supplies; unload and store deliveries.
  7. Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, or carrying of equipment and materials.
  • Walking and standing on quarry tile floors.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and fumes.
  • Must have full function of hands and fingers and be able to handle knives and serving items.
  • Ability to verbally communicate and have proficient hearing.
  • Close vision and ability to adjust focus required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current State Food Handler's Permit.
  • Serve Safe Certification preferred.
  • One year related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating kitchen equipment and utensils in a food service facility.
  • Experience working with at-risk adolescents is preferred.
