Job description

Part Time/PRN Physical Therapy Assistant

Description

  1. Treat patients as directed by the Physical Therapist.
  2. Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board regulations.
  3. Assist in maintaining the department and participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
  4. Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area.
  5. Follow physician treatment plans when treating patients.
  6. Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides.
  7. Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
  8. Participate in in-service training programs for staff.
  9. Record treatment changes according to policies and procedures.
  10. Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training for discharge preparation.
  11. Report any equipment problems to ensure proper maintenance.
  12. Maintain positive, effective, and appropriate relationships with patients/residents, families, staff, and colleagues.

Supervisory Requirements

This position is not supervisory.

Qualifications

  1. Licensed as a Staff Physical Therapy Assistant in the respective state.
  2. Proficient in computer skills, including data entry in programs like Casamba and Point Click Care.
  3. Ability to read and comprehend technical procedures, policies, and manuals.
  4. Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and families.
  5. Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  6. Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret various instructions.
  7. Maintain licensure in good standing, meeting continuing education requirements as per state regulations.

Physical Demands

Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, talking, smelling, and tasting. Occasionally involves pushing/pulling over 100 pounds, climbing, kneeling, or crouching. Must have good visual perception and focus abilities.

Work Environment

Typically low to moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
