Job summary

Bluebonnet Trails Community Services is seeking a part-time Prevention Specialist to implement evidence-based curricula and educational presentations for students and families in Williamson and Burnet counties. The role involves in-person and virtual activities, coordination with schools, and coordination of prevention programs under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Ability to be credentialed as an APS or CPS within 20 months of employment.
• Associate’s degree in education, social work/psychology/sociology, human services or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth and/or families.
• Proficiency in MS Office system.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver prevention curricula and educational presentations in schools and community, in-person and virtually.
• Facilitate and co-facilitate group presentations and activities with students of all ages and adults.
• Conduct Tobacco Compliance Checks within the community monthly.
• Participate in health fairs and other community-based programs.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and community partners.
• Work in collaboration with community partners to increase health promotion and improve behavioral health.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation and reports, and attend meetings and training as required.
• Provide resources and referrals to the most appropriate level of care or services.
• Work collaboratively with the Prevention Coordinator and Prevention Specialist to plan and provide guidance on all prevention activities and issues.
• Willingness to drive to various locations within Williamson County and Burnet Co as a part of job duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with youth, team members, parents, and community partners.
• Ability to be flexible; problem solver, self-directed; customer service-oriented, and collaborative.
