Job summary

The Upper Marlboro Community Center, operated by The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), seeks a part-time preschool teacher to join our early childhood team. You will plan age-appropriate activities, foster development, and maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment for young children.

Ideal candidates are 18+, with knowledge of early childhood development, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.

Job description

The Upper Marlboro Community Center is seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and dependable Part-Time Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood education team. Required

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.

• Must successfully complete all required background checks and meet Maryland childcare licensing requirements.

Preferred

• 90-Hour Child Care Certification
• Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Act as a role model by displaying positive and courteous behaviors that children will admire and want to emulate
• Maintain awareness of children’s needs
• Observe safety principles and work in a safe manner
• Organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely manner, for self and others
• Current certification in First Aid and CPR (infant/child and adult), or able to become so certified within 60 days of hire (current certifications must be maintained throughout employment)
• Occasionally lift, drag, and push files, paper, and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more

May be subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Work hours

• Monday–Friday: 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
• Weekends: May vary based on program and community center needs.

Working Conditions/Environment

• Classroom-based early childhood education setting.
• May include indoor and outdoor activities.
• Position involves frequent interaction and engagement with preschool-aged children.
