Job summary

Valley of the Sun YMCA in Scottsdale is seeking an Assistant Preschool Teacher to support planning, development, and implementation of activities at a preschool program site.

You will work with the lead teacher to create weekly lesson plans, foster curiosity and social-emotional growth, and maintain a safe, welcoming classroom environment.

This part-time hourly role offers benefits such as staff membership and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18
• Must enjoy working with children
• High School diploma or equivalency
• Minimum of 6 months qualifying experience
• Current fingerprint clearance and negative TB or the ability to obtain

Responsibilities

• Work alongside lead teacher to create experiences that support a full range of developmental and social and emotional needs, including opportunities that allow children to develop curiosity, initiative, problem‑solving skills and creativity, as well as a sense of self and a feeling of belonging to the group.
• Promote feelings of security and trust by being warm, supportive and comforting and by establishing strong and caring relationships with children.
• Create and maintain a clean, safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning and promoting social relationships.
• In conjunction with the lead teacher create and implement weekly lesson plans.
