Job summary

City of Shoreview, MN is hiring for multiple part-time shifts and substitutes to support the Kids Corner preschool program for the 2026/2027 school year. The program serves children aged 2½ to 5 with activities in letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and pre-reading skills, and includes art, music, drama, and physical activities.

Qualifications

• Coursework in elementary education is desired.
• Experience working with preschoolers is desired.
• CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of hire is required (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities.
• Supervise children during classroom instruction, outdoor play, meals, and rest periods.
• Accompany children into the Community Center's shallow pools; supervise and ensure safety.
• Foster a positive, caring, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain classroom materials, supplies, and learning centers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom by sanitizing toys, equipment, and surfaces.
• Observe children's behavior and progress, reporting concerns or achievements to the teacher.
• Assist with attendance, recordkeeping, and classroom documentation as needed.
• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians under the direction of the lead teacher.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the recreation program supervisor or teacher.
