Job summary

Lake Land College is seeking a campus security professional to protect patrons and property. The role includes patrolling grounds, reporting incidents, and enforcing college policies and state laws.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred) and familiarity with a community college environment; Illinois Police Certification is required or to be acquired.

• Provide written incident reports for campus incidents.
• Provide for facility security and patrol campus facilities.

• Maintain proficiency with departmental equipment and weapons as applicable.
• Provide departmental services and maintain records.
• Work within a team and relate well to students, faculty and staff.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED required. Associate's degree preferred.

Experience Requirements:

• Familiar with community college environment. Acquisition of Illinois Police Certification.

Knowledge:

• Principles and practices of community college environment. Possess skills needed to enforce college policy and state law. Efficient understanding of law enforcement vocabulary, including the standard 10-code. Able to express ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and written.

Skills:

• Effective use of personal computer and related software. Operation of two-way radio and related equipment. Effectively use law enforcement weapons including, but not limited to, handgun, Taser, handcuffs, and pepper spray.

Personal Requirements:

• Able to relate to students, faculty and staff. Work within a team environment.
