Job summary

Urban School of San Francisco seeks a part-time temporary playwriting instructor to teach playwriting to a small group of students in anticipation of their plays being performed in the Spring. The instructor must have high proficiency with the craft of playwriting, previous experience with high school-aged youth, and the ability to foster a positive, student-centered classroom culture.

The class sessions are on Thursdays with additional hours for feedback, meetings with the Theatre Director, and

Qualifications

• Degree in theatre arts or at least two years of previous experience working in theatre.
• Experience having an original play professionally produced is preferred.
• High proficiency with the craft of playwriting.

Responsibilities

• Teach playwriting to a small group of students.
• Meet individually with each student to offer feedback and coaching about their plays.
• Meet with the Theatre Director throughout the term as needed.
• Additional planning and other collaborative time as needed.
