Job summary

Granite School District in West Valley City, Utah, is seeking a Playground Assistant to supervise students in the lunchroom, on the playground, and in classrooms during inclement weather, ensuring safety and orderly conduct.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred), strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to deescalate tense situations. Work hours are 11:45 AM–12:45 PM, Monday through Thursday, five hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No prior experience required.
• Positive interpersonal and communication skills; ability to deescalate tense situations.

Responsibilities

• Monitors behavior of students in lunchroom, on the playground and classrooms.
• Moves about to provide constant supervision for student safety.
• Monitors student activities for inappropriate behaviors, e.g. bullying or unsafe activities.
• Reminds students of expectations based on school procedures.
• Refers students for discipline for inappropriate behaviors to administration.
• Inspects playground for hazards; first and last on the playground to ensure safety.
