Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium in Omaha, NE is seeking enthusiastic Picnic Crew Members to support catered picnics and events. You will help set up, serve, and maintain a welcoming environment while delivering warm hospitality to guests.

This part-time role offers flexible scheduling up to 24 hours per week, with weekend and holiday availability. Training is provided on site, and the role reports to the Catering Assistant Manager.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Classification: Part-Time Regular

Hours: Flexible schedule with 24 hours per week including weekends and holidays

Pay Rate: $15.00/hour

This is a regular part-time position working up to an average of 24 hours per week annually in an ongoing capacity. Work schedules may vary week to week, month to month, or seasonally based on operational needs.

Summary:

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking enthusiastic Picnic Crew Members who are passionate about creating memorable experiences for our guests. This role plays an essential part in delivering warm hospitality during catered picnics and events. Picnic Crew Members ensure every guest enjoys a clean, welcoming environment and receives friendly, efficient service. Responsibilities include set-up, serving, maintaining food quality and safety, and assisting with event clean up. This position reports directly to the Catering Assistant Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide a friendly, positive, and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
• Maintain a clean and inviting event space through efficient set-up, service, and teardown.
• Assist with food prepping, buffet service, and guest support throughout each event.
• Follow all policies and uphold high standards of hospitality.
• Ensure proper food handling and comply with all food safety procedures.
• Support the catering department's recycling and sustainability initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support an excellent guest experience.

Additional Responsibilities:

• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Available to work up to 24 hours per week during the summer season.
• Availability on weekends, holidays, and variable hours based on event needs.
• Comfortable working in outdoor facilities and varying weather conditions.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, positive, and committed to delivering great guest service.

Food Handler Permit Requirement:

All food and beverage employees at the Zoo must possess an active Food Handler Permit registered with the Douglas County Health Department at time of hire, or must successfully complete Food Handler training and obtain a certificate within 30 days of employment.

Training is provided onsite at the Zoo and is paid at the employee's regular hourly rate. The Zoo will cover the certification fee ($20) for the employee's initial certification attempt. Any additional attempts required to obtain certification will be at the employee's expense. Failure to demonstrate or obtain the required certification within the specified timeframe is a violation of health code requirements and will result in termination.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Prior food service or hospitality experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact warmly with guests.
• Excellent customer service skills with a guest-first mindset.
• Basic understanding of food and beverage service and safety procedures.
• Strong time-management and teamwork skills.
