Job summary

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus is seeking a Pickleball Instructor to lead private, semi-private, and group sessions in its Recreation and Wellness department in Columbus, OH. The role focuses on safe, fun, and skill-building experiences for players of all ages and abilities.

The position supports a growing pickleball program, delivering high-quality instruction, developing lesson plans, and promoting programs and events while maintaining professional customer service and strong

Qualifications

• Certification through the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) or IPTPA, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• 1–2 years of experience instructing pickleball lessons, clinics, or comparable racquet sports.
• Experience teaching both individual and group lessons.
• CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain within 2 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional instruction for private lessons, semi-private lessons, group classes, and clinics.
• Develop lesson plans that support skill development for beginners through advanced players.
• Manage, supervise, and facilitate court play to ensure safety, fairness, and smooth transitions.
• Create a welcoming, enthusiastic atmosphere that encourages participation and sportsmanship.
• Communicate clearly and positively with participants, parents, and members.
• Demonstrate the ability to teach players of all ages and ability levels.
• Promote pickleball programs, lessons, and events through active engagement with members and prospective participants.
• Assist with program set-up, equipment needs, and basic court maintenance when required.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate scheduling changes promptly.
• Represent the JCC with professionalism, modeling exceptional customer service at all times.
• Support special events, tournaments, and pickleball initiatives as assigned.
